NASA co-principal and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga need to come together to resolve the political crisis in the country.

Kalonzo said he was looking at the Kenyan politics from a neutral perspective different from that of Uhuru and Raila courtesy of his long stay in Europe after the general election.

He said he needed to meet Uhuru and hold talks over reconciling the nation and added that their intended swearing-in should not be allowed to happen if the president is willing to dialogue.

“My brother President Uhuru Kenyatta, and I am calling him ‘president’ in quotes because he has the instruments of power at the moment, and my brother Raila Odinga, time has come for us to sit and talk this one out,” he said.

Kalonzo said that if Uhuru and Raila fail to agree, he will move in and broker the talks for the sake of the country.

“If they – Uhuru and Raila – cannot come together, I hope they will allow me to bring them together so that they can look at each other in the face. These are people who have worked together in the past,” Kalonzo said, adding that he was the “glue” to bind them.

He insisted that the talks should however entail constitutional reforms seeking to restructure governance institutions and strengthen devolution.
