People have started to declare their intentions to run for different posts in the next years general elections.
Interestingly the gubernatorial and MCA posts seem to be attracting the highest number of interested candidates. We have even sitting senators and Mps who have declared their interests in the gubernatorial position.
As its always the case, some high ranking professionals are also planning to ditch their professions to venture into politics.
Some are even interested in the MCA post. This is unlike in the past when the MCA or the councillors post attracted mostly the middle class in the society.
With MCAs earning more than most professionals in the public and private sectors, even high ranking society members are interested in the post.
The counties have proved to have a lot of money which falls under the command of the governors and the MCAs.
With the belief in this country that for one to get rich, you just need to get into politics and be elected, these two posts are seen as easy ways to get rich.
Besides the high salaries for the posts, the leaders see them as good opportunities to loot public funds.
