Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Friday made his first speech since he was sentenced by the High Court for defying court orders.
The IG and Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has not spoken on the matter with the only statements coming from Immigration Department and Communications Director Mwenda Njoka.
And addressing the press on Friday, Boinnet kept off on the issue and instead assured Kenyans of safety during the Easter season.
"As police, we have put in place measures to ensure all Kenyans enjoy this season in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility," he said.
Boinnet said that the police will mainly check out on the highways which according to him will have many Kenyans travelling during the season mainly to the rural areas and back.
He also called on Kenyans to be careful while driving adding that they should ensure that they travell using road-worthy vehicles.
"There will be an increased presence of traffic police on the roads, especially on the major roads," he said.
His statement comes in the wake of heavy criticism towards him ,Interior Cabinet secretary and Immigrtion Ps frm both political and non-governmental organisations divide following the deportation of NRM self-declared general on Wednesday night.
