Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said that Polycarp Igathe who resigned from the deputy governor position is regretting.
He said that there were cartels between City Hall and State House who did not want to see him (Sonko) make progress for Nairobians and that they are the ones who misled Igathe with wrong advice to vacate office.
“Two or three advisors misled him and I am sure he is regretting the decision but I am happy that we are still talking. I only take orders from the president and his deputy but these other people who want to bring division in Nairobi, we are going to deal with them,” Sonko said.
“There are teams put in place to create a perception that I cannot deliver. They operate through fake accounts on social media to bring me down,” he added.
Sonko said that Igathe should have sought alternative means to resolve any possible conflicts between them, including going to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto or religious leaders.
