Nairobi County deputy governor, Polycarp Igathe, has assured the residents of Nairobi that the city will soon be clean.His assurance comes days after a highly unflattering story run on a leading television station on the toxic state of the city.''Nairobi produces 3000 tonnes of waste a day but only manages to collect 2000 tonnes.'' Igathe said.Igathe said that the county government would be collaborating with the National Youth Service recruits who would be deployed in every ward to collect and dispose of garbage.''The Ngarisha Jiji Programme in each of Nairobi's 17 sub-counties. At least we will be able to cover two sub-counties a month.'' Ms. Emma Mukuhi, the county executive for the environment, said according to the Daily Nation.Igathe also revealed that the county was going to revive trucks lying idle because of mechanical problems.
