A group of visually disabled youths from Igegania Village in Gatundu North have lauded Uwezo Funds for the support it has offered them.
The group, known as Pamoja Visually Disabled is has more than 15 members, and have been doing embroidery work and soap making, which enables them to eke a living.
Daniel Muhia is one of the members of the group.
“The money has helped us a great deal because we had no capital at all and no lending institution would accept to borrow money to us. Uwezo Fund has enabled us achieve a lot within a short time,” said Muhia.
Gatundu North Uwezo Fund Co-ordinator, Mary Wahugo has said that the group is a success despite being disabled, and she intends to help them get to the next level.
“I trained them how to spend the Uwezo money, and I'm happy to say that the kind of products they have been making are quality by all means. I will now help them get a market for the products,” said Wahugo.
Area MCA, Kimani Gachihi on his part challenged parents with such children not to hide them, but bring them out saying that Pamoja group has demonstrated that disability is not inability.
