Some leaders from the Mount Kenya region have urged President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta to ignore Ephraim Maina’s call to drop Devolution Cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri from the Cabinet in his second and final term.

Led by Laikipia Senator John Kinyua, the more than 15 leaders, said the former Mathira legislator’s views are personal and do not represent those of Central region.

“We respect him (Maina) but his ‘unsolicited’ advice to the President is uncalled for. He does not represent us,” Kinyua told Journalists in Nairobi yesterday and lashed out at Maina for discrediting the CS’s track record.

They defended the CS’s performance in the Devolution docket saying he is a dedicated leader who certainly deserves another term in office.

Maina had earlier expressed strong opposition to the CS saying leaders from Mount Kenya region had lost trust in him.

However, the senator said it is the former legislator who tried to sabotage the Jubilee Party in the just concluded repeat presidential poll. 

“We are speaking on behalf of Mt Kenya leadership and we are sure Mt Kenya region people share our concerns,” he said.
