Garissa Township MP hopeful Farah Maalim has asked his supporters to ignore a recent poll survey by TIFA showing that incumbent MP Aden Duale enjoys majority support at 77 per cent.

Maalim says that the poll surrey released on Monday favored Duale, adding that the MP’s does not have majority support.

The Wiper Party deputy leader said that his bid to oust Duale will not be dampen by fake and baseless opinion polls.

“Garissa people will decide on August 8 and who they want as  their MP and I have no time to discuss  'fake' opinion polls whose agenda is to confuse voters,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.

Maalim said that he has the numbers to beat Duale, adding that the National Assembly majority leader should prepare to go home next week.

The MP hopeful, vying on Wiper ticket, urged residents not to be swayed or intimidated instead urged  them to come out in large numbers to vote in his favor.

Maalim said that represents the change residents have been yearning for many years.

The TIFA poll rated Maalim at 18 per cent while Amani National Congress (ANC) aspirant Abdi Yarre was rated at 0.7 percent.

The Garissa Township is among competitive seats in the August 8 polls with political analyst’s taunting the race a two race between Duale and Maalim.
