Garissa Governor Bunow Korane has termed as baseless allegations that he forged a degree certificate from the University of Nairobi.
Governor Korane said his former rival in the gubernatorial race, Farah Maalim was behind, was behind the claims.
“Ignore this desperate move by a man whose political ambition was rejected by Garissa County people,” he wrote on Twitter, responding to the allegations.
He said a letter with a University of Nairobi letterhead, indicating that Korane’s master's degree in business administration was not genuine. The letter claims the university did not issue the degree in 2011.
Former deputy speaker Maalim, running on a Wiper party ticket, lost the seat to Korane in last year’s general election.
Korane said he will respond to the allegations comprehensively today.
