Deputy President William Ruto has challenged Rift Valley voters to ignore Bomet governor Isaac Rutto and instead support President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the forthcoming general elections.
Governor Rutto fell out with the Deputy President days after DP folded up URP to form Jubilee Party.
The outspoken governor has since formed his own outfit (Chama Cha Mashinani) and joined Opposition coalition NASA as the fifth principal.
"You should ignore a guy whose position is number five in the opposition, why to gamble with a guy who is far away from leadership when I am already in the second position," the DP stated.
NASA is a conglomeration of five major Opposition political parties that include ODM, Wiper Party, Ford Kenya, Chama Cha Mashinani and Amani National Congress Party.
The DP made the remarks on Saturday during a meet-the-people tour in Nakuru.
He was accompanied with President Uhuru Kenyatta, who exuded confidence that he will support his 2022 presidential bid.
"We have agreed with my friend [Uhuru] that after he wins this election, I will take over the steering and start putting things in order in preparation for 2022," he noted.
