Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has asked local politicians to stop early campaigns.
Mr Maangi said that elected leaders in the region required humble time to deliver what they promised during the campaigns.
"Early campaigns will only derail development projects and the common mwananchi will suffer," he said.
Mr Maangi who was speaking at a fundraiser ceremony in Masimba said that those who lost should be strategising on what to do and not campaigning.
"Its so sad that some local leaders who lost in the last elections have started campaigns ahead of the 2022 elections. If they are not keen they will still be defeated at the ballot," he said.
Mr Maangi called on residents to ignore politicians who were decampaigning them saying that Governor Ongwae meant well of locals.
“Ongwae and I have launched street lights in several markets across the county but some politicians are not happy and they have started spreading propaganda. No single cent has been misappropriated or misused as claimed by them," he said.
He instead asked the leaders to focus on securing job opportunities for the Kisii youths who are graduates but lack jobs.
