Kiambu based political analyst Peter Ngure has cautioned Jubilee politicians against ignoring former Meru governor Peter Munya’s recent move to the National Super Alliance (NASA).
Ngure says that it will be disastrous for President Uhuru Kenyatta if he ignores Munya’s 'marriage' with NASA leader Raila Odinga.
In an interview on Tuesday, the analyst said that Munya’s force in Mt Kenya region cannot be ignored easily.
He said that the former Governor has the potential of pulling a larger section of Mt Kenya to vote for Odinga in the repeat presidential election slated for October 17.
“I don’t think it will be wise for Jubilee politicians to ignore Munya’s decision to work with NASA,” he said on Tuesday.
He said that NASA is likely to garner a huge percentage of Meru votes following Munya’s declaration to work with Odinga
The analyst said that it will be better for Jubilee to go back to the drawing board and counter Munya’s influence before it’s too late for them.
Munya joined NASA on Monday pledging to help Raila Odinga win the repeat presidential election. The former Meru governor said that he will work with NASA in the fight against computer generated leaders.
He lost the Meru governor seat to Kiraitu Murungi and has vowed to challenge the win in court.
The former Meru governor joins NASA as the sixth principal as the opposition alliance intensifies campaigns for repeat presidential election which the IEBC has slated for October 17.
Majority of Jubilee politicians have dismissed Munya's move to NASA terming it inconsequential to the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
