Atwoli who spoke at his home in Khwisero on Saturday said Raila enjoys massive support in the country and can therefore not be wished away.

He made the remarks when he met MPs from the Amani National Congress party said to be rebellious to their leader Musalia Mudavadi.

The MPs are Geoffrey Otsosi (ANC Secretary General), Ayub Savula (Lugari) and Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.

"You don't need to fear Raila, he is your brother. This is one man with a huge following in the country. Don't you think by ignoring him there something the country is missing?" Atwoli posed.

Atwoli noted that there is need for leaders both in Jubilee and the opposition respect Raila as an elder.

The Jubilee administration has been under pressure to convene talks with the opposition chief and help unite the country.

President Uhuru Kenyatta's team has, however, been adamant in convening the talks arguing that time for politics is over.
