Igonga Division residents have asked Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to sack area police boss Nicholas Omondi Olago.
The locals claims that the police boss is to blame for the increased illicit brews in the area since he has been demanding for bribes from illicit brew dealers.
“Olago has been colluding with illicit brew dealers in the region who give him bribes of Sh1,000 per month so that they can continue making and selling illicit brews especially chang’aa,” said Lukas Nyakundi, a Nyabiosi village resident on Monday.
Julius Momanyi, another resident accused Igonga administration police officers of frustrating the government efforts to end illegal businesses in the area.
“Illegal businesses will not end in the region anytime soon because the same people who should fight hard to end such businesses are the ones allowing the businesses to thrive.
"It is time Interior CS Fred Matiang’i moved with speed to sack the corrupt police boss and have him replaced with an officer without a questionable integrity,” said Momanyi.
However, Olago denied the claims saying those spreading the claims are the same people who were arrested with chang'aa and arraigned in court.
The police boss assured residents that he will not succumb to intimidation and blackmail from the locals and war against illicit liquor in the region won't stop soon.
