Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor has appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga to clam, their supporters down and preach unity ahead of the presidential repeat election.

Noor also wants Uhuru and Odinga to exercise tolerance and give dialogue a chance on issues facing the country ahead of the repeat election.

Speaking to journalists in Ijara Town on Tuesday, the MP said that the rising political temperatures are not good for the country and could destabilize peace and unity among Kenyans.

She said that president Uhuru and Raila must move with speed and cool the political heat.

“I want to urge President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to come together and unite the country,” she said as quoted by the People Daily.

Noor also urged president Kenyatta and Odinga to drop hard stand lines and allow the IEBC prepare for the repeat polls.

She said that there is a state of anxiety in the country, adding that the repeat election could be affected if intolerance persists.

The Ijara MP pleaded with Kenyans to remain peaceful and shun politicians who are out to destabilize peace.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila will face off again in repeat election slated for October 26.

Odinga has however threatened to boycott the repeat poll if the reforms he is pushing at the IEBC are not implemented.

The opposition is pushing for the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other officials who it claims were behind the bungled August 8 presidential election.

On Tuesday, opposition supporters held protests in Nairobi and Kisumu calling for Chiloba’s removal.
