Residents of Ikalaasa in Mwala constituency were Thursday screened for cancer under the Machakos county cancer awareness program that is conducted under the leadership of Machakos first lady madam Lilian Nganga.

The screening was for both men and women and included pap smear tests, mammography tests, prostate cancer screening among others. 

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in Kenya and can be treated if detected at early stages.

The first lady has been championing for screening across the county.
