President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to visit Kisumu County today, Tuesday, to grace over the National Drama Festival.
The president is also expected to touch on the development record of the government in the area, with the recruitment of the NYS youths being one of the prime projects.
“And now that we are here, it’s good to speak on the devolved money, the money transferred to Kisumu County from the national government in the last three years is 17.9 billion, while in terms of CDF allocation, it amounts to 2.63 billion,” said Manoah Esipisu.
Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, who was speaking live on NTV noted that the president will be on a different function and not on any official duty, but will ask him to answer questions on his development record.
Some ODM leaders have been accusing the Jubilee government of marginalizing the county since they took to power, with Ranguma being coy on the same.
“If you take a quantum of 54 years, then you can say we are marginalized, but of late I think, during the ‘Nusu Mkate’ when the prime minister was there, a few things started coming this direction,” said Ranguma.
“I think there are a number of roads that were started during that time. But I will raise some queries here on why there is slow pace in in completion of some roads especially from the city centre to Mamboleo and the Airport,” he added.
The drama festivals have been going on for the last one week, and as it is a tradition, the top performers will get a chance to perform for the president at the State House Kisumu.
