Kenyan lawyer Philip Murgor has shelved his presidential ambitions barely four months after announcing his bid.
The UDM party leader withdrew from the race citing several challenges standing between him and the presidency.
The Former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of failing to tame early campaigns, and also claimed aspirants were engaging in illegal campaigns ahead of the August 8 polls.
While announcing his decision on Sunday, April 9, Murgor said the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet refused to provide him a bodyguard to ensure his security as a presidential candidate and former DPP, unlike all other candidates.
Murgor however indicated he might vie for the top seat in 2022.
