President Uhuru Kenyatta is confident on beating Raila Odinga once again in this year’s elections.

Speaking in Kisii on Tuesday, the president said the opposition, led by Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka, have nothing to show after years in various positions, and will suffer the same defeat as it was in 2013.

“Hawa watu tuliwashinda tukiwa mstuni, ni sasa kweli watatushinda (we won against them when we had issues then, will they beat us now?” said the president in reference to campaigning while having cases at the ICC in 2013.

The president also visited the beneficiaries of the cash programme for the elderly, with the total number of beneficiaries now standing at 810,100.

During the tour of the larger Kisii County, the president held meet-great meetings with the locals at different points, and addressed a crowd at Masimba area.

President Kenyatta also handed over a cheque of Sh358 million for the IDPs in the area, and promised to top it up to ensure all are well settled.

He advised the IDPs to use the funds for beneficial projects that could help them change their lives.

He is expected to tour Nyamira on Wednesday before heading to Western Kenya and parts of North Rift, where his Deputy William Ruto has pitched tent.
