Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden has urged the electorates to reject his opponent Omar Shurie in the coming polls, terming him as a project who is being imposed to the people.

According to KNA, Abdikadir accused the Abduwak Clan Council of elders and a few powerful individuals from the area of influencing the nomination of candidates for various elective posts late 2016.

"His candidature is inconsequential. Shurie was picked by the elders in 2016’s ‘negotiated democracy," he said.

Abdikadir said that Shurie is from Fafi constituency and his endorsement to contest in Balambala is meant to serve selfish interests of his masters.

He said the power of the people will prevail come August 8.

“As far as I am concerned there is no contest in Balambala. He is a candidate who is being imposed on the people and on August 8 I will hand him a humiliating defeat that he will live to remember,” he said.

He added that his good track record will enable him retain his seat.

"Electorates are wise, closely watching my development record. I am confident that I will be voted in come August,” he added.
