Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that he will support President Uhuru Kenyatta until he helps the people of his county.
Mutua, who is looking forward to defending his seat on Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket, said that Machakos has lagged behind when it comes to development because of poor leadership.
Speaking at Kisasi Deputy County Commissioner's backyard in Kitui Rural constituency, he said that he will continue to lobby the President to develop his county.
"I will continue lobbying the President to launch the tarmacking of the road before the next year's elections. I am sure the President will listen to our plea to boost the local business community where the road passes," Mutua said, as quoted by The Standard.
Machakos governor Alfred Mutua pointed out that Ukambani has not benefitted from the past regimes because Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and other leaders were not active.
He vowed to soldier on until Machakos County becomes a better place despite facing criticisms for ditching Wiper to form Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.
According to Mutua, Kalonzo could have used his position in the government to steer development in the region.
"He has nothing to show as an MP, cabinet minister and even as a Vice President. Let him point out what he did to the people of Ukambani or is it only poverty and hopelessness?" asked Mutua.
