Kiambu governor hopeful Ferdinand Waititu has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta of 1.2 Million Kiambu votes on August 8.
Waititu says that he has put in place proper campaign strategies to ensure 100 per cent turnout in Kiambu on election day.
Addressing journalists at Kiambu Town on Thursday, Waititu rubbished claims that there will be voter apathy in Mt Kenya region.
He said that Mt Kenya people are determined to make sure that Uhuru wins re-election. “We will be conducting door to door campaigns to make sure that voters turn out in large numbers to vote for Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term,” he said as quoted by the Star.
Waititu stated that Mt Kenya votes will be enough to guarantee Uhuru’s re-election bid. The governor hopeful said that Jubilee government deserves re-election saying it has initiated key projects that have changed the lives of Kenyans.
The Kabete MP dismissed the opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) saying it cannot marshal numbers to beat Jubilee.
At the same time, Waititu urged independent candidates in Mt Kenya to campaign for Uhuru Kenyatta re-election.
Waititu also called for peaceful and agenda-based campaigns. He is seeking to unseat Governor William Kabogo in the August 8 polls after clinching the party ticket after humiliating Kabogo in the nomination.
Kabogo is, however, contesting as an independent candidate.
