Mombasa Jubilee Party governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has intensified his campaigns ahead of the August 8 general election.
Shahbal who is eyeing Governor Hassan Joho's seat has launched a door-to-door campaign to woo voters.
According to the Standard, Shahbal's election promises include addressing the land issues affecting Mombasa residents if he assumes office, the Standard has reported.
"The Jubilee government under President Uhuru Kenyatta has all the answers to the perennial land issues. You all saw what Uhuru did with the Waitiki land issue. We shall set out to end this land problem here once and for all," said Shahbal at Vikwatani in Kisauni constituency.
Shahbal who is the Jubilee pointman in Mombasa also castigated Joho over his claims that Uhuru's administration has sidelined the Muslim community.
He told Joho not to whip up religious emotions during this electioneering period.
"It is cheap politics for him (Joho) to start whipping up religious emotions and diverting campaigns from issue-based politics," he said.
On his part, Jubilee activist Nyonga wa Makemba said Joho had failed to address the squatter problem in the region.
"The opposition is to blame for this mess we are in today. They sat pretty on the land problem and have never been useful in offering alternatives to end it," he said.
