Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura has exuded confidence that he will trounce all his rivals in the ODM nominations slated for April 24.

Speaking on Thursday this week, Obura said he had met tougher opponents in the  2013 nominations and that this time the opposition he faced was relatively smaller.

The law maker said he is sure of clinching the ODM slot which will be a direct ticket to his getting a second term in parliament.

He said this even as party members raised concern over his closeness with Jubilee Party in the recent times.

The race gets  hotter from the fact that he will seek to beat the other six rivals for the seat to represent one of the most populous constituencies in Nyanza.

He will face off with former Kisumu East MP aspirant Richard Ogendo, former Kisumu mayor Sam Okello, Siaya MCA Fred Ouda, former TNA secretary general Onyango Oloo, former Kisumu Town West MP Ken Nyagudi and Elphas Oyugi.

Addressing residents at Migosi Primary School, the MP said he was banking on his good development record to help him win.

“I know some of my colleagues are only bothered by my development projects. I will continue to serve my people,” he said.

He challenged the other aspirants, asking them to show the people of Kisumu what they had done for them.

“Some of them who had the guts to tell us that we can’t get the presidency are also here and they want to unseat me, yet they even bought and burnt our people’s national IDs in Mamboleo in 2013, thinking that people can forget such,” he said.

Obura expresed satisfaction in the party's measures put in place to ensure the nominations exercise is free and fair.

“I have no reason complain, because the party has assured me of free and fair nominations and my opponents should know that I will win with a landslide,” he added.
