Kilifi governor hopeful Kazungu Kambi has asked the incumbent, Governor Amason Kingi to brace for a humiliating defeat in the August 8 polls.Kambi said he is prepared to send Kingi home in the August elections.Addressing supporters in Malindi Town on Monday, the former Labour Cabinet Secretary accused Kingi’s government of allegedly misappropriating billions of taxpayers’ money.Kambi claimed Kingi’s administration cannot account for the billions it has been receiving from the national government and in revenue collection.The former CS claimed officials in Kingi’s administration have been enriching themselves at the expense of delivering services to residents.“Governor Kingi cannot account for over Sh39 billion his government has been collecting from locals in revenues since 2013,” said Kambi, as quoted by the Nation.He said Kilifi needs a governor who will champion for equality and fair distribution of resources.The former CS who is contesting on a Kadu Asili party tikcet, pledged to eradicate graft in the county if elected.He said his administration will push for the interests of the people, adding that if elected, he will promote local businesses, tourism, create jobs and address social-economic injustices that have been perpetuated on Kilifi people.He urged locals to make informed choices and vote for leaders who will push their development agenda forward.
