Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has assured the National Super Alliance (NASA) he will ensure the over three million registered voters from Western Kenya will vote for the opposition coalition.
Khalwale who played an instrumental role in ensuring NASA architects Musalia Mudavadi, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula remain united said under the Jubilee government the region had received a raw deal in development.He said only under the NASA government will residents of the vote-rich and agriculturally endowed region realise development.“I am glad every piece of the Luhya political puzzle has finally fallen in place,” Khalwale wrote on his Twitter account.“I am now able to unleash our 3,021,911 votes.”NASA Pentagon members and other opposition leaders officially launched the coalition’s campaigns in Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday at a well-attended rally.Enthusiastic supporters at the rally held at Mudavadi’s political backyard vowed to vote for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.The coalition also, during the rally, launched the Western Region Investment Plan which seeks to boost the region’s agricultural sector.Western is a vote-rich zone and every politician vying for the presidency eyes for a share of its votes.President Uhuru Kenyatta will be visiting the region that constitutes the counties of Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia on Wednesday. Western wholly voted for Mr Odinga in 2013.
