Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said he will not campaign for National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga in his county.
Kingi is one of the die-hard supporters of Mr Odinga, who will be facing off with Jubilee’s President Uhuru Kenyatta come October 17.
Kingi says there is no need to campaign for his party leader in Kilifi because all the votes are already secure.
“Why should we campaign in Kilifi? The residents are only waiting for the election date to vote for Raila,” Kingi said.
In the results published by the IEBC, Odinga got 274,179 votes while President Kenyatta garnered 49,575 votes in Kilifi County.
The presidential election results were, however, nullified by the Supreme Court on September 1.
The court ruled that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did not conduct the election according to the constitution and Elections Act.
Nasa’s Mr Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka filed the petition against IEBC, its chairman Wafula Chebukati and the president.
