Kilifi Governor hopeful James Kahindi has pledged to weed out corruption and promote accountability if elected governor in the coming August 8 general election.

Addressing supporters in Kilifi Town on Tuesday, Kahindi, who is vying as an independent candidate said that his government if elected will not tolerate graft.

He said that his government will push for implementation of specific laws that will keep corruption at bay.

"One of my key manifestos is to combat corruption, promote accountability and transparency," he said as quoted by the People Daily.

Kahindi claimed that corruption is thriving Governor Amason Kingi’s government. He said that residents have been denied access to services as a result of massive corruption.

The independent governor candidate said that unless corruption is tackled and weeded out the county will remain poor.

The governor hopeful said that rivals in the gubernatorial race do not pas the integrity test and should be rejected.

He asked residents back his bid saying that he will not disappoints them.

Kahindi at the same time urged residents remain peaceful as they prepare for the general election.

Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro and former Labour CS Kazungu Kambi are seeking to unseat governor Kingi.

Mung’aro is contesting on Jubilee party ticket while Kambi is vying on Kadu Asili ticket.
