Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane has assured non-somalis living in the county of his commitment to better their lives and engage them in running of his government.
Korane says that non- somalis make up a large population of Garissa county.
In an interview with the People Daily on Monday, Korane rubbished claims that he plans to neglect and discriminate against non-somalis.
“I want to assure Garissa residents whether Somalis, Muslims, Kambas, luhya’s, Kissi’s or whichever tribe living in Garissa that my government will fight for their interests on equal basis,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.
Korane urged non-somalis to be free and channel their issues to his government. He said that Garissa is a cosmopolitan county and that his agenda will be to fight for the rights of every community.
Korane at the same time assured the business community of his commitment to provide adequate security.
Korane said that his government will work with the business community to push for economic development.
The Jubilee governor told residents that they will not regret voting him as their governor in the recently concluded general election.
Korane won the seat beating his closet rival Nathif Jama in the recently concluded polls.
He was sworn on in Monday in an event attended by top leaders among them Garissa township MP Aden Duale
