Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has promised to champion for locals interests and rights after she was endorsed for re-election in the Jubilee Party nominations.

Addressing supporters at Thika Town on Thursday, Ng’ang’a said that she will work to better locals living standards, push for development and unite communities living in the constituency.

Ng’ang’a added she will also focus on empowering women, youths and Persons Living with Disabilities. “I will champion your (locals) interests and defend your rights at all cost,” she said on Thursday as quoted by the Star.

She added, “You (locals) have shown trust in me and I will not let you down as your MP.” The Thika lawmaker urged supporters to remain peaceful before, during and after the August 8 polls.

She also asked rivals who lost the nomination to work with for the interests of locals.

Ng'ang’a won the Thika JP ticket garnering 15,880 votes against her closest contender Jungle Nut CEO Patrick Wainaina’s 14,731 votes.

Businessman Morris Mburu emerged third with 3,127 votes in the Jubilee Party nominations.

Wainaina has since announced that he will be contesting as an independent candidate and vowed to show Ng’ang’a dust in the August 8 polls.
