President Uhuru Kenyatta has insisted that he will only support Kiambu Jubilee gubernatorial candidate who will emerge winner in primaries.
His announcement could be a reprieve to Governor William Kabogo and Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu who are set to battle for the ticket.
Speaking in Gatundu town on Friday, Uhuru urged aspirants in various positions on Jubilee Party to seek support from locals adding that the party will not condone boardroom nominations.
"I am not interested in imposing someone on you. These candidates will face you in and seek for support. The ultimate decision remains with the people of Kiambu," he said.
Uhuru added: " I will only support the candidates whom you will chose in a fair nominations. That is democracy and we must abide by it."
Kabogo is facing fierce competition from Waititu and at some point, he filed a petition in court challenging the latter's academic credentials.
Both candidates are close allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
