Days after turning down Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful Ferdinand Waititu’s job offer, senatorial aspirant and Ngewa MCA Karungo Wa Thang’wa says locals yearn to have him as their senator.
He says that his supporters have warned him against Waititu’s job offer and wants him to compete in the August 8 polls.
Speaking to journalists in Kiambu Town on Friday, Thang’wa said that he will not drop his senatorial bid in exchange for anything.
The Ngewa MCA said Kiambu people are in need and that he is ready to tackle their problems in the senate if elected in the August polls.
“I am not going to step down or drop my senatorial bid in exchange for money or material goods,” he said as quoted by the Standard,
The senator hopeful claimed that Kiambu is not well represented in the senate and accused the incumbent Kimani Wamatangi of doing little to fight for locals rights.
“I want to be the voice of not only Kiambu people but all Kenyans in the senate,” he added.
The youthful politician urged his supporters to remain claim assuring them that he will be on the ballot on August 8.
On Monday, Waititu asked Thang’wa to drop his senatorial bid in support of Wamatangi who clinched the Jubilee ticket in the nomination two weeks ago.
Waititu offered Thang’wa a job in his administration if he steps down and supports Wamatangi saying that he will not campaign for independent candidates in the August polls.
Thang’wa lost narrowly lost to Wamatangi in the JP senatorial nominations.
The senator disputed the results claiming that the exercise was marred with malpractices. He will be contesting for the seat as an independent candidate ad has vowed to send Wamatangi packing.
The Jubilee nominations in Kiambu saw big names fall with political analysts saying that losers will find it hard even if they contest as independent candidates.
