Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has pledged to reduce parking fees by 30 per cent.

The Jubilee governor said he was waiting for the county assembly to resume its sitting before he tables a new Bill that will allow the changes.

In his manifesto, he promised to reduce the fees from Sh300 to Sh150 – within the first 100 days after his election.

"I have proposals to amend the Finance Act once the county assembly holds its first sitting this week. The outcome will be communicated in due course," said Sonko, as quoted by The Standard.

The Standard reports that Governor Sonko, however, in a meeting with Matatu Owners Association, left the period of implementation open, and not within the first 100 days.
