Moi University Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Laban Ayiro has affirmed his commitment to ensure the institution regains its lost glory, lead in innovation and research, locally and internationally.
He said his aim was to make the University a center of excellence.
"We will recruit more lecturers, improve infrastructure, reduce admission of students and automate all our services for clients to access at the comfort of their homes," said Ayiro.
Speaking during a Vice Chancellors' Oration Ceremony on Thursday, Ayiro urged the community to support him in making the University better.
"My appointment was not easy since I faced rejection due to my tribal affiliation but I want to assure them I will use all I have to re-brand the institution,'' affirmed Ayiro, who has been facing opposition from top North Rift political leaders.
He also called on the Ministry of Education to increase funding to the institution to achieve their dreams.
On his part, Chairman of the Commission of University Education (CUE) Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha urged higher learning institutions to ensure they offer quality education, competent to current job market.
"Universities should not introduce courses that are not job oriented,'' he said.
Chacha assured they will work closely with Technical and Vocational Education Training Authority (TVETA) to ensure only accredited courses are taught with professional.
