Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has said he will reject a cabinet position if nominated to any post by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This comes amid reports that the senator's KANU party would be given two slots in the cabinet.
Speaking at parliament buildings after being elected chairperson of the Senate's ICT committee on Tuesday morning, Moi said he has a duty of serving Baringo residents who elected him into office.
“I have not been offered a cabinet position and if offered one I will not take it because I have the mandate to serve the people of Baringo with commitment and dedication for the next five years,” he said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday nominated former Marsabit Governor Ukur Yatani, Ex-Turkana Senator John Munyes and former Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to his new look cabinet.
Six cabinet secretaries were retained. 13 others will know their fate when the next batch is announced.
