Suleiman Shahbal took his campaigns for the Mombasa governor seat to Shimanzi-Ganjoni, Mvita constituency, where he vowed to give Governor Hassan Joho the last punch in his political journey.

Speaking when he met opinion leaders in the constituency, Shahbal continued his onslaught on Joho, accusing him of running down the county during his reign.While citing mass youth unemployment in Mombasa, the Jubilee man claimed that the county leadership has done little to address the situation which he said was running out of hand.Shahbal hit out at Joho over alleged failed deliverables, claiming that the county leadership has been reduced into a talk-shop which has failed to live to its expectations.“Under Joho’s leadership, the level of poverty in the county has gone up and devolution has technically failed to work in Mombasa,” said Shahbal.He said the 'serious leadership crisis' in the county has led to an increase of drug abuse among the youth.Shahbal vowed to send the ODM deputy party leader packing during the August 8 polls, adding that his development track record speaks for itself and that Joho's time in Mombasa politics is up.
