Kitui governor hopeful David Musila has pledged to steer the county towards economic success if elected governor.
Musila says that he will implement policies that will make the county an economic hub.
In an interview with the People Daily, the senator said that the county’s economy had deteriorated under Governor Julius Malombe’s watch.
He claimed that Malombe’s poor policies have killed the country’s economic stature, adding that things will turn around under his leadership if elected.
Musila said that he will woo local and foreign investors to invest in the county by giving incentives.
He claimed that Malombe’s government was unfriendly to investors, saying that has made them snub the county.
Musila added that he will spearhead employment creation for young people.
“Job creation, infrastructure and trade will be among my key development agenda if elected governor on August 8,” he said.
He said that he will make Kitui an industrialization hub if elected. Musila asked Malombe to prepare for a resounding defeat in the August 8 polls.
On Thursday, Musila picked deputy governor Penina Malonza as his running mate.
The senator is vying as an independent candidate after losing in Wiper nomination.
Malombe is seeking re-election on Wiper Party ticket. He faces stiff competition from Musila and former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu who is contesting on her Narc Party.
