Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has reiterated his commitment and ambition to contest the presidency in 2022.
Speaking when he toured Kangundo and Matungulu constituencies to drum up support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mutua exuded confidence in succeeding the Jubilee Party leader.
"Time for politicians who preach politics of poverty is long gone. Kenyans now want selfless and focused leaders who can transform their lives. That is why I believe after re-electing Uhuru next month, they will pass the mantle to me in 2022," Mutua said.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader asked Ukambani people to turn up in large numbers to vote for Jubilee, saying Uhuru will defeat NASA's Raila Odinga in the October 17 repeat presidential poll.
"President Uhuru had won the August 8 election which the Supreme Court nullified but Kenyans are ready to show the world again that that was their will," Mutua said.
He further called on Kenyans to maintain peace and unity despite the high political temperatures in the country.
