Maangi, who declared his bid recently, will face a stiff challenge from senator Chris Obure, who ditched Orange Democratic Movement party recently.

In an interview with reporters on Monday, Maangi said the move will pave way for transparency and fairness in the party.

"I respect democracy and will bow out should I lose. This is about Jubilee Party and our plan to stick together. If you lose fairly, it is important to remain intact as a team for the sake of victory," he said.

"I challenge my opponents too to be courageous enough and support the party. Our individual interest should come first before anything else," he added.

He maintained that his aim will be to popularize the party in grassroots, a plan which he says will help the party win more seats in all elective positions.
