Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago [Photo/Joe Khisa]The county government of Uasin Gishu has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring women, youths and People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) are financially supported.Governor Jackson Mandago says his administration has already put in place mechanisms that will see the three groups get access to county funds.Speaking in Eldoret on Thursday, Mandago called for the formation of cooperatives so as to benefit from low-interest loans."We have a cooperative revolving fund where we give loans at an interest rate of 5 percent per annum and this is where the youths, women and the disabled need to take advantage and get financially empowered," noted the governor. He further revealed that he had directed all the County Executive Committee members (CeCs) to ensure they meet the 30 percent allocation of procurement opportunities to the marginalized groups."We want every group to feel the benefits of devolution and this is why I have told my CeCs that they need to ensure tenders and procurement opportunities are also given to the youth, women, and PWDs," Mandago noted."I have made a pledge that any CeC whose docket increases procurement opportunities for marginalized groups to 50 percent will be rewarded," he added. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
