Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has said that his re-election on August 8 is a done deal.
The Wiper Party Governor says that he will win his re-election without much sweat.
In an interview with the Standard, Jama said that his competitors are not giving him sleepless nights and that he will win re-election by 8 AM.
“I am confident that I will beat my rivals with a landslide because they have nothing to offer the people,” he said as quoted by Daily Nation.
Jama said that his rivals are campaigning on propaganda with nothing to show for.
“Let them (competitors) waste their money and time campaigning because Garissa people will never let people with no agenda to take up leadership positions," he added.
The Garissa Governor said that locals have trust and confidence in him, adding that his re-election agenda is to complete the development projects his government has initiated.
Governor Jama is facing stiff competition in his re-election from former Permanent Secretary (PS) Ali Bunow Korane who is vying on Jubilee Party ticket.
Korane has the backing of National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale, and has vowed to send Jama home.
Garissa senator Yusuf Haji’s younger brother Major Retired Bashir Haji is also in the gubernatorial race contesting on Amani National Congress (ANC) party.
