Ranguma said the campaigns being mounted by other gubernatorial candidates should not be conceived to be bad blood between them.

He said every candidate is jostling to occupy the governorship position that he currently occupies.

The governor said he has ten years as stipulated in the Constitution to be the Governor of Kisumu and will relinquish it then.

“I know these candidates are eyeing my seat in 2017. I want to remind them that I am eligible for a second term in office. Let them come and try their luck,” he said.

Speaking in Kisumu on Thursday, Ranguma said he will continue initiating development projects in the county.

However, nominated Senator Joy Gwendo rubbished his ambition noting that he does not deserve a second term.

Gwendo said the governor has failed to steer the county to the right direction.

“I feel that Ranguma has done little for the county contrary to our expectation. I appeal to Kisumu people to make wise decision in 2017,” she said.

She said that Ranguma does not deserve a second term in office and asked the people of Kisumu to elect a visionary leader in 2017.

Gwendo said Kisumu has opportunities that have not been tapped by the Governor to create wealth and employment to young people.
