The inspectors in collaboration with the Kenya Police embarked on a mission to smoke out businesspersons operating unlicensed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling plants on Wednesday.

According to ACA lead inspector Yusuf Osman, the officers also nabbed lorry carrying cylinders suspected to have been obtained illegally in Embakasi and 125 LPG cylinders.

“We did not find some places open, and from the information collected from the public, the owners operate in the dead of the night. We are on the lookout for the duo and we are diligently keeping tabs on the illegal gas business in this area," Osman said.

We did not find the other places open. More such raids will significantly reduce the illegal activity which is endangering many lives,” added as quoted by Nairobi news.

The exercise began in a Total Petrol station located along Mombasa road before heading to other parts of the county.

The Daily Nation has documented that there are at least 26 illegal gas filling plants in different counties posing a great danger to the lives of innocent Kenyans.

Nairobi alone has eight major such plants with most of them located in East lands.
