A 30-year-old man was electrocuted in Keroka, Nyamira County while trying to illegally connect electricity to his shop.
The deceased, Jones Nyanumba, was rushed to Keroka District Hospital for treatment but was confirmed dead upon arrival following the incident that happened on Wednesday morning.
Keroka Township chief, Kennedy Ndege, warned residents against illegal and dangerous electricity connections.
"We should not connect electricity without the help of Kenya Power personnel, connecting it without approval from Kenya Power is against the law,"said Ndege.
The chief encouraged residents to always call Kenya Power staff for assistance in case of a power outage or problem.
The deceased's body was moved to Gucha Mortuary in Keroka.
