Business people along Buruburu Phase 3 have been caught on a rude shock as their structures were pulled down by the County Government of Nairobi.
City Hall enforcement and sub-county officers brought down illegal structures overnight against the owners who had already been issued with court orders to bar the demolition.
"The illegal structures had encroached on roads and blocked alleys in the densely populated Buruburu area,” said Buruburu Sub-county administrator Susan Onanga.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ms Onanga said Buruburu residents had recently complained about the illegal structures after the collapse of two buildings in Westlands in less than two weeks.
She further said residents had also complained that criminals were hiding in the structures and attacking them at night.
She said the county government would continue demolishing illegal structures in the area to curb insecurity which has been a threat to residents.
