The Nairobi County government has rallied over 700 enforcement officers to foresee the demolition of all illegal structures existing within the city.
According to Jonathan Mueke, Evans Kidero's deputy, all illegal car washes, outlets, and shops will be brought down as one of the many measures to be undertaken in a bid to restore sanity in the city.
Mueke pointed out that the demolition team has been reshuffled and even reassigned to specific streets stressing that their failure to deliver would see them sacked.
“All our county staff responsible for this demolition mission has been re-assigned specific roles to oversee, failure to which they shall be served with suspension notice followed by termination process. This is in line with our mandate to offer quality services across the city. We want to ensure that law and order prevails,” he stated.
He further warned that stern action would be taken against business operators conducting their transactions in undesignated areas or even using fake permits. Anyone buying anything from outlawed premises will also be prosecuted.
“City residents are also forewarned against buying wares from these banned hawkers that they will also be arrested and charged,” Mueke added.
