Kisii county deputy commissioner Peter Mbugi said some bar owners possess licences to operate for 24 hours.
Mbugi noted that bars operating 24 hours is illegal since liquor can only be sold within a specified time.
"We will not allow alcohol to be sold like tea in hotels. Time for selling liquor should be followed or such outlets be closed down," he said.
He said if bars will remain open 24 hours during December festive season, people including school going children will take advantage to drink alcohol.
Mbugi urged the county government to join the fight in finding individuals issuing illegal licences to bar owners.
The commissioner warned that if anyone is found with a forged licence he will be dealt with.
