The video of a drunken chief that went viral  on social media last week will not dampen the fight against illicit brew in Nakuru County, a senior security officer in the area has warned.

South Rift regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo said the fight against illicit brews which was revived month ago following President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive would go on as usual.

Musiambo warned those engaging in the vice to brace for harder times ahead as the police would mount a spirited crackdown on them.

He also warned government officers abetting the vice to take a cue from the sacked Mawingu sub-location assistant chief Joseph Rotich, saying they would also face the same consequences.

Musiambu was speaking Wednesday in Nakuru town.

Rotich was recorded on camera drunk on illicit brew while clad in his official uniform during Uhuru's official tour of the region over a week ago.

He has since been sacked and will be arraigned in court soon to answer to charges on the same.
