More than 15,000 litres of chang’aa was on Tuesday destroyed in Katwekera area in Kibera in the renewed police crackdowns on illicit liquor.
Police also impounded Kangara and rounded up 10 suspects during the day- long exercise.
Kilimani OCPD, Peter Katam said the liquor was recovered from Katwekera, Kisumu Ndogo and Soweto among other areas.
According to Katam, they won’t stop carrying out the crackdown until they ensure that the illegal alcohol sale ends in the area.
“We have already arrested a number of people involved in the business and we will ensure they are arranged in court in the next few days,” he said.
He called upon area residents to ensure that they inform the police of any persons involved in the business so that they can clear the dens.
The OCPD said there had been a rise in the illegal trade in the area for the last few months.
