Masinga Sub-County administrator Susan Muthini has cautioned youths in the area against indulging in drugs saying that such behaviour would have far-reaching effects in their lives.

She expressed concern that some newly married youths had turned to drinking illicit brews at the expense of procreating cautioning that there might be a generation gap in communities where illicit brews are rampant.

Muthini said that she had received complaints from some parents that their youths were taking too long before procreating after getting married and blamed illicit brews and other drugs that youths have access to.

The administrator called upon the clergy to speak openly about the problem saying it was social problem, which could have bad effects in the country if it persists without a stern action.

Muthini said that it was sad that young people would turn to drugs after marrying instead of working tirelessly to raise children and maintain them adding that family life should continue despite hard economic times that individual people could be experiencing at the moment.

She, however, recalled that the government was doing a lot to alleviate poverty amongst the society citing free primary and secondary education programmes as some of the projects that the government had initiated to assist the common mwananchi.
